SelecTech, Inc., a leader in the manufacture of innovative flooring products with long-term value and immediate benefits, recently announced the completion of the installation of its FreeStyle BioLock product at the main lab at Waterbury Hospital, 64 Robbins Street, Waterbury, Connecticut. The project was initiated and installed by SelecTech distributor Desconn, Inc. Terrazzo & Epoxy Flooring Contractor of West Haven, Connecticut.

“Since this was the primary lab at Waterbury Hospital, there could be little to no downtime. The hospital originally considered an epoxy but the existing floor was not in the greatest shape and the necessary drying time would require the lab to be unavailable for several days,” said Thomas Ricciardelli, president of SelecTech, Inc., makers of FreeStyle flooring products. “Our BioLock product meets the standards of what was needed for a hospital lab. Even better, with its interlocking technology, it could be installed over the existing floor, meeting the zero downtime requirement.”

The installation of more than 2,000 square feet of FreeStyle BioLock took place in December with zero downtime.

“The installation did require close coordination with hospital staff over the three days we were there,” said Joe Cannizzaro, Desconn, Inc. Terrazzo & Epoxy Flooring Contractor. “Yet when you consider the scope of the job, the superior quality of the floor and zero down time, going with SelecTech’s FreeStyle BioLock was a win for all parties.”

FreeStyle BioLock tiles employ a patented glueless “zipper” interlocking system that enables the flooring to be installed over existing flooring with minimal subfloor preparation. There’s no need for messy, toxic adhesive and down-time is significantly reduced—often times without need to close off an area.

Made with 70 percent recycled materials and 100 percent recyclable, FreeStyle ESD meets CA 1350 Indoor Air Quality and is MAS Certified Green.

FreeStyle BioLock is available in 36 colors.
